GRCC men’s basketball trump Lake Michigan College, now 4-1 in past 5 games

The Grand Rapids Community College men’s basketball team defeated Lake Michigan College Wednesday by a score of 102-93. The Raiders came out a little flat, but bounced back and caught up to Lake Michigan.

“We started off with great energy,” Bronkema said. “We didn’t shoot well to start, but we stayed positive and came back on an 8-0 scoring run to bring us right back into the game.”

The way the team played against Lake Michigan was “efficient” in Bronkema’s view.

“A lot of guys were very efficient tonight,” Bronkema said. “Guys were making their shots and being productive on offense.”

Defense has been an issue in the past for the Raiders. For the past several games, including the game against Lake Michigan, the players were were focused and ready to play according to Bronkema.

“We played good solid defense,” Bronkema said. “(The) guys stayed focused on their assignments and were energized.”

In points, Sophomore Guard Jeff Drake-Todd led the way with 26, followed by Guards Sophomore Arthur Pearson and Freshman Zach Pangborn who both had 18.

The Raiders will play Ancilla College at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at the GRCC Ford Fieldhouse. Admission is free and concessions are available to spectators of the game.
