Tough defense was the focal point for GRCC in their victory over Kellogg Community College, 53-41. They forced Kellogg CC to shoot only 23 percent for the game.
“We played good pressure defense,” said Head Coach Dave Glazier. “We were able to disrupt what they were trying to do offensively and that helped.”
The Raiders displayed good offense, which also helped them capture the win.
“Offensively we did a good job,” Glazier said. “We played well against their 1-3-1 zone, and knocked down some shots from outside which gave us confidence early.”
Freshman Guard Makayla Beld led the Raiders with a double double: 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Freshman Guard Emily Pendred also had a double double of her own with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Freshman Guard Claire Flewelling finished with 18 points, two assists and five steals.
The next game will be at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at the GRCC Ford Fieldhouse. The cost of admissions is free and concessions are available for fans.
