Trespasser in gaming room of Calkins Science Building
At 3:49 p.m. Feb. 13, two GRCC police officers went to room 127 of the Calkins science Building about an individual in the gaming room that wasn’t supposed to be there.
When the two officers arrived at the room, they met with a student who is a part of the GRCC Gaming Association who told them that the individual was on the Sex Offender Registry and was not a current student.
The two officers made contact with the individual in the outer hallway of the building and told him that since he was not a current GRCC student, that he would need to leave the campus, as well as update his information on the SOR as his current address had not been updated for a year and a half. He then left campus without further incident.
At 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14, he came back to GRCCPD and said he updated his address with the Grand Rapids Police Department and was now compliant with the SOR. He showed officers his profile on the website to confirm the update. He then said the gamers association allows non students to attend sessions if they are a part of the association. A GRCC police officer said he would check with the gamers association about whether or not he would be allowed back.
