Former Student Life Office Manager Molly Maczka was a loved and well known employee in the Student Life office. Student leaders and staff dedicated their club space in her honor Feb. 9.

Maczka died Oct. 26 of a heart attack at age 53. Her obituary can be found here.

Student Alliance President Jose Garcia said students will never forget Maczka.

“They can create the atmosphere that Molly created here of generosity,” said Garcia, 27, of Grand Rapids.

Many students, staff and some of the Maczka family were in attendance to honor her name.

Maczka juggled a lot of responsibilities in Student Life.

“Around the time she passed away there was a transition of where the office wasn’t staffed, because she was always there to help,” Garcia said. “She did so much to help Student Life.”

Student Life employees Giancarlo Hernandez 21, of Grand Rapids and Marissa Diaz 20, of Grand Rapids, were in attendance.

“Molly was like a mom to us,” Hernandez said.

“An inspiration to us all,” Diaz added.
