In order to provide students with all the essentials for graduation, the Grand Rapids Community College Foundation office set up an event called GradFest that will be open to all students from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 4, in the Applied Technology Center.

Chris Remley, office manager of Student Life, described GradFest as a “one stop shop for everything needed for commencement.”

“If a student misses this event, they can still get everything, but they will have to visit several offices around campus to get all of the required regalia and paperwork,” Remley said.

The items that students can receive for graduation at GradFest are the cap and gown, tassel, tickets and announcements.  The cap and gown comes out at $31, where just the cap is $5, the tassel is $3.50, and for a package of 5 announcements the price is $7.95.

This event will be held in rooms 118-124 in the Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology Center (ATC).

“We really hope that students are aware of their graduation status and submitted the graduation application before attending this event,” Remley said.

If students need to find out their status, it is advised that they see an adviser in the Academic Advising office or seek out Ready, Set, Graduate tables during the weeks of March 13 and March 20 throughout every building in the campus.  Appointments with the Academic Advising office can be set up by calling (616) 234-3900 or visiting their website.

This year’s commencement ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. April 28 at the Ford Fieldhouse, 111 Lyon St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

“We are very excited to help benefit everyone participating in graduation with GradFest this coming April,” Remley said.
