Tuition hike to be proposed for GRCC 2017-18 budget

A proposed tuition increase of 1.8 percent  will be presented to the Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees at their monthly meeting, Monday.

This is approximately an increase of $2 for resident tuition.

GRCC Vice President of Finance and Administration Lisa Freiburger said all tuition would go up by 1.8 percent, making resident tuition rise from $111 to $113 per credit hour. This is two months ahead of the 2017-18 Budget Proposal slated for May.

“It’s really important to us to keep that as low as possible, while recognizing fixed costs at the institution increase,” Freiburger said.

Freiburger said the college is not planning for an increase of state funding and property tax revenue is unknown at this point.
