Grand Rapids Community College is hosting “Human Trafficking: Modern Day Slavery,” a lecture to education students and members of the Grand Rapids community to stay safe.

Human trafficking affects millions worldwide and is still a growing problem. FBI Victim Specialist and Human Trafficking Expert Carmen Kucinich will be speaking on the issue of human trafficking in Michigan and in other places around the world.

Kucinich is actively working on the West Michigan Based Child Exploitation Task Force. She is also an original member of the Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force and a forensic interviewer and therapist.

Kucinich will look into the mind of a human trafficker and talk about the risk factors and methods used by traffickers.

The lecture will take place today at 6 p.m. at GRCC’s Sneden Hall, room 108.
