A day after a loaded magazine was discovered in a Grand Rapids Community College bathroom, police have determined that the ammunition was stolen from a Kentwood Police detective.

It has been confirmed that the magazine found on campus on Nov. 1, belonged to a Kentwood Police detective and was stolen from a police vehicle parked at a Grand Rapids parking lot approximately three weeks ago.

“It is possible that the detective’s vehicle was unlocked or locked and someone may have decided to break into the car” said Kentwood Police Chief, Thomas Hillen. “We did have the officer do inventor to make sure that nothing else was missing and nothing was.”

The GRCC police were able to figure out that it was kentwood property due to it being marked and are currently investigating how the magazine was brought onto our campus.

Anyone with information should contact silent observer at (616) 774-2345 or GRCC Campus Police at (616) 234-4010.
