Former Grand Rapids Community College student, Garrett Borns, will perform his latest songs at a sold-out show on Jan. 28 at 20 Monroe Live as part of his 2018 North American Tour.
BØRNS’ much anticipated second album, “Blue Madonna,” dropped on Jan. 12 and features his latest single, “God Save Our Young Blood” featuring Lana Del Rey. The song is a marriage of catchy beats and silky vocals.
This will be BØRNS’ first performance in Grand Rapids since signing with Interscope Records in 2014. Since then BØRNS has toured twice through North America and Europe. Tour dates for the 2018 North American Tour can be found on BØRNS’ website. Although tickets are still available for some February shows, they are selling fast.
For his 2018 tour, BØRNS partnered with Plus 1, a nonprofit organization linking artists with causes to effect change. For every ticket sold $1 will go to Grid Alternatives and their efforts to bring renewable energy technology and job training to underserved communities in the United States and across the globe. Tickets to his Grand Rapids show sold for $26 to $130.
BØRNS grew up in Grand Haven and in 2010 graduated from Grand Haven High School. He attended GRCC shortly after and studied music theory. Following some local fame – where BØRNS performed at local bars, performing arts centers and was an opening act at 2011’s Art Prize – he then moved to Los Angeles in 2014 to continue pursuing his music career.
