Everyone I ever talk to always explains that they can’t play video games because it “costs too much money.” Well, League of Legends (LoL) is the solution to this problem. LoL is a free to play game and is an absolute blast.

LoL is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) style game. It is an online only game that has the option of 3v3 or 5v5. Each game lasts roughly 20-50 minutes and is non-stop action. At the start of a game all of the players select their desired character to play as for the up-coming match. Each character has a unique set of abilities, strengths and weaknesses. As the game begins you must fight against the opposing team trying to score kills and destroy bases. As you do this, you gain money to purchase items which in turn allow you to deal more damage or take more damage. The goal of the game is to eventually destroy the “main base” of the enemy which is heavily protected by laser turrets.

LoL is a constantly changing game. New champions (characters) are being added every few weeks and there are already 92 different ones to choose from. Ninjas, Pirates, Dragons, Wolves, Snipers, Archers, Knights and the list goes on! With the diverse selection everyone is able to find a champion to fit their play-style and personal taste.

Beyond the great game-play and excellent diversity in champions, LoL offers an amazing community. Professional games of LoL can easily gather 100+ thousand viewers together to cheer for their favorite teams and champions. Without the community LoL would not be the excellent game that it is.

The only downside to the game is that the graphics are a bit underwhelming. They definitely don’t get in the way of enjoying the game. However, if they were a bit cleaner I wouldn’t argue.

If you are looking for a way to spend the next few weeks – I would highly recommend downloading League of Legends and giving it a try! It’s free!
