The Collegiate has an ad manager position that pays 20 % commission on each paid ad. You can earn over $1,000 per semester for just a couple hours of work per week.

The Collegiate needs news, sports, A&E writers, and columnists. No previous experience necessary. To submit, stop by the office in 339 Main, or email the Collegiate at grcc_collegiate@yahoo.com.

Do you have questions about careers, courses, the Collegiate (print or web edition), or just want some advice?  Contact Dr. Scott McNabb at smcnabb@grcc.edu.

Do I need previous experience?

No previous experience is required. JR 251 is introductory. Applications to work on the paper in a leadership position are handed out during the first week of class.

I’m really serious about journalism. What should I do?

Sign up for JR 251 in the fall. Then sign up for JR 252 in the winter. This will help you build a portfolio you can show others.

This sounds time consuming. Can I really fit it into my schedule?

It is more work than most classes, but JR 251 and JR 252 will be the most rewarding, beneficial classes you can take, not just for yourself, but for your career as well.
