GRCC will be teaming up with Comprenew Environmental, a local non profit electronics recycler to collect unwanted electronics as part of an upcoming event honoring Peter Wege. Wege is a local philanthropist, author and creator of the economicology principle.
The collection will run for October 5th to the 7th. Comprenew’s e-Drop trailers will be stationed at 3 GRCC campus locations to collect everything from old computers and accessories to cellular items, audio/visual equipment and other miscellaneous electronics.
The Comprenew e-Drop trailers are designed by the company specifically for the purpose of of recycling these materials that can prove toxic.
“The three R’s are just a small part of what Peter Wege is all about,” said Trish Castiglione of the GRCC foundation, whose office is holding a community event in Wege’s honor on October 11th.
The three R’s Castiglione is refering to include reduce, reuse and recycle.
These terms stand as a guide to what recyling stands for. The goal is to reduce materials, re-use old items and then recycle what is not needed.
“By simply recycling electronic items- the kinds of things everyone probably has around the house but aren’t really sure what to do with, we are playing an important role in the environment and making Mr. Wege very happy.”
GRCC employees, students and members of the community are encouraged to bring unwanted electronics to any of these locations: the Bostwick Commons on GRCC’s main campus, the Cook Administration building on GRCC’s DeVos Campus, and the Wisner-Botrall Applied Technology Center Loading Dock on Ransom St. on GRCC’s main campus.
The times for collection are October 5th and 6th between 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and October 7th from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For a complete list of items that can be recycled visit www.grcc.edu/recycle.
