Since the Raiders lost back-to-back games against conference rival Mott Community College on March 25, they’ve gone on a 10 game winning streak.
GRCC head coach Mike Cupples is pleased with the progress his team has made since the opening loss to Mott.
“We knew we could hit. The bats just were coming along right away,” Cupples said. “We had a talk and guys started playing. We’re getting key hits and quality pitching throughout this streak and we hope it continues.”
During the winning streak the Raiders have managed to outscore its opponents 76-42.
Brenden Bender and Aaron Jensen lead the team in batting average with .417 average. Bender is also a part of the Raiders pitching roation and leads the team with a 2.05 ERA (earned run average). Jensen leads the team in wins with three.
The team has an on-base percentage of .400 and a slugging percentage of .414. Their opponets are batting .278 on the season.
The Raiders currently hold a 6-2 conferenece record and are 15-16 on the season. The Raiders look to get above the .500 mark with its upcoming games.
The Raiders have three home games this upcoming week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday all at Belknap Park.
On Thursday they host Aquinas College at 4:00 p.m..
On Friday they play Davenport JV at 2:00 p.m.
On Saturday they face-off against Jackson Community College at 1:00 p.m.
All games are double-headers.
