The grievance hearing for the recall appeal filed by Jeffrey Noel, former vice president of Grand Rapids Community College Student Congress, occurred today at 4:30 p.m. The closed meeting began 30 minutes late and extended past the 5 p.m. end time.
Noel provided information supporting why he should be reinstated to his position. Executive board members Vincent James, Anthony Provenzano, and Chaka White were also there to provide opinions as to why Noel should be removed. The outcome of the hearing was undecided. There has been another meeting set up for next week so the committee can finish hearing the arguments of both sides.
“We cannot talk about what went on in the meeting,” Provenzano said. “All I can say is that it has officially been postponed to next week–at a time that can fit our schedules.”
Provenzano, who called the motion for the recall, stated that if Noel is reinstated, he plans to leave his position as budget director. White, Student Congress President, is undecided about how she will react.
“Right now, I am just going to wait and see what the outcome is,” White said.
