The Grand Rapids Community College women’s volleyball team continued their undefeated status with a win last night against the Chargers from Ancillary College.
“I wanted this to be a good team win,” said Raider’s Coach Chip Will. “I was hoping to give a lot of kids some reps. It was really nice to see some of the kids come in off the bench to help contribute.”
The Raiders started off with a close game but were able to pull ahead and win the set 25-15. The second set began with a Raiders lead and ended with them winning 25-14. Finally, the Raiders won the game with a third set of 24-19.
“I thought we played really well as a team last night,” said Taylor Gates, setter for GRCC. “We worked through the awkward quietness of the gym and we were able to keep the tempo fast on our side. Overall I thought it was a good team win.”
“That’s one thing that separates us from other teams in the country,” Will said. “Is that we have kids that can come in and get the job done. That’s going to help us at the end of the season when kids start getting tired and start struggling a little bit, to have kids that can come off the bench and not really skip a beat.”
The Raiders are scheduled to play Lake Michigan College at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Benton Harbor.
