Students gathered in the Raider Grill on Jan. 23, to enjoy a variety of activities and treats. Welcome Back Week is hosted by the Campus Activities Board. Though not as large scale as “Welcome Week” in the Fall, the Campus Activities Board strives to make Welcome Back Week as fun and well received as possible.

On Thursday, students were able to enjoy a “Make Your Own Music Video” station where they could dress up in silly costumes and create a music video. There was also a “Pucker Powder” flavored sugar station where students had the opportunity to create a concoction of their choosing.

Each student at GRCC pays a “Campus Activities” fee, which goes towards events such as Welcome Back Week. “Welcome Back Week generally costs $10,000 between the food, activities, and the give-a-ways,” said Evan Macklin, Coordinator of Student Life and Conduct.

The Campus Activities Board pays attention to what students like and dislike so that they can improve future Welcome Weeks. “We’ve had a lot of things the same,” said Lindsey Jones, a member of the Campus Activities Board. “People always like the food.” Striving for more student participation is always a goal of the Campus Activities Board.

Even though Welcome Back Week is over for this year, students can look forward to giving any feedback they have to members of the Campus Activities Board so that the next Welcome Week can be even better.
