GRCC’s Maurice Townsend voted off American Idol’s ‘Rush Week’

Grand Rapids Community College student, Maurice Townsend’s American Idol career ended last Wednesday night’s on the show’s rush week.

Townsend was among the top 30 contestants left on the show, and at age 26, was the oldest of all the remaining singers.

Townsend is a Grand Rapids native, having attended GRCC at the age of 19. He currently works at Living Word Christian Center in Kentwood as the music minister, and attends Baker College for human resources.
