

A delegation from The Collegiate traveled to Central Michigan University on Saturday to attend the Michigan Community College Press Association Annual Conference, where the staff brought home a total of 21 awards, including first place for In-Depth Reporting and Editorial. The event, hosted by CMU’s journalism department, is centered around journalism awards ranging from Cartoon Editorial to General Excellence.
This year’s event featured talks led by professionals from The Detroit News, Amelia Eramya and Chad Livengood, Brian Manzullo of the Detroit Free Press, Ken Stevens of the Muskegon Chronicle and Betsy Rau, journalism professor at CMU. Erik ‘Captain Career’ Simon, Assistant Director of CMU Career Services, also gave a presentation about building a personal brand.
