Founders Fest

Founders Fest is an annual street party celebrating Founders craft beer, live music, and local food and artists. Musical acts include the group Lettuce, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Break Science, The Giving Tree Band and Budos Band. Local groups Fauxgrass and Valentiger will also be performing. The festival will be outdoors on the street and will include all of Founders year round offerings. The event is 21+ and is located on Grandville Ave., between Cherry and Bartlett streets on Saturday, June 21 from 3 to 11 p.m.  Advance ticket sales are $25, $30 at the gate and are available at the Founders taproom, 235 Grandville Ave SW, or online at www.foundersbrewing.com.

Reverend Horton Heat at The Pyramid Scheme

The rockabilly/psychobilly legend Reverend Horton Heat will be performing at The Pyramid Scheme on Sunday, June 22. Tickets to the 18+ show are $22 in advanced, and $25 at the door. The Pyramid Scheme is located on 68 Commerce SW. For more information, visit www.pyramidschemebar.com

Movies in the Park (Grease)

The 1978 musical “Grease”, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, will be playing at Ah-Nab-Awen Park, 220 Front Ave. NW (in front of the Gerald R. Ford Museum). Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, food and beverages. The event is free and begins at 7 p.m., with the movie starting at dusk. More information is available at www.downtowngr.org

Reeds Lake Art Festival

The 50th annual Reeds Lake Art Festival will be taking place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 21. Presented by the Grand Valley Arts Association, the festival brings hundreds of artists together in East Grand Rapids to showcase their talent. Artists from all over the country will display paintings, oil, watercolor, acrylic, pottery, jewelry and photographs. The event is all ages and is held on Wealthy St. and Lakeside. West Michigan Chalk Art Festival

Presented by the Byron Community Wellness Foundation, The West Michigan Chalk Art Festival will have a total of $3,000 in prizes and a grand prize of $1000 for their chalk art competition. The festival is from Friday, June 20 (12 – 9 p.m.) through Saturday, June 21 (9 a.m. – 9 p.m.). Located on Byron Center Avenue SW and 84th Street, there will be adult, youth and team categories for the competition. 6’ x 6’ squares are given as is free chalk.
