Grand Rapids Community College is hosting its annual Raider Rally to help new students become involved with the campus community while getting ready to start the fall semester.
Many student organizations will be present during the event, and those attending will get the chance to meet other students as well as to learn about the different activities taking place on campus.
GRCC Departments will be available as well so that students can obtain assistance with classes, financial aid, online accounts, and other steps they may have to complete before the semester starts. Attendees can also be part of a campus tour to find out where facilities and classrooms are located.
Evan Macklin, Coordinator of Student Life and Conduct, said that the Raider Rally is offered to help freshmen get “excited about attending in the fall semester because it can be a very anxious time for a lot of students that haven’t experienced college before.”
Macklin said that this event also gives new students the opportunity to meet and interact with others that are also going through the same experiences while attending college for the first time.
This event has been held for the past six years and around 800 students attended last year.
Students can attend the Raider Rally from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Student Community Center on GRCC’s campus.
