Grand Rapids Community College’s International Guitar Series 2014 launches off with the California Guitar Trio. The trio, composed of Bert Lams of Belgium, Hideyo Moriya of Japan, and Paul Richards of Utah, has been performing together for 23 years. Together they have produced 14 albums ranging from classical guitar to surf music to rock.

Brian Morris, Professor of Music, Performing Arts, and Director of Guitar Studies at GRCC, is looking forward to the start of the series.

“[I hope to] expose people to classical guitar,” Morris said. “It’s great for people to see that really high level of expertise. It helps us keep our standard higher.”

The event will be this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. It will be held at the GRCC Music Center, Recital Hall, Room 200 located at the corner of Ransom and Lyon. Tickets will cost $15 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors. The Student Parking ramp across the street will be available for parking. Pick up a voucher at the door and the parking will only cost you $1. For help with any physical disabilities, contact the GRCC Disability Support Services, 616-234-4140.
