Grand Rapids Community College will be hosting 43 schools at its annual transfer fair today from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Student Community Center.
GRCC counselor Lynnae Selberg feels this is a valuable experience for students.
“I would encourage them to bring their questions,” Selberg said. “This is their opportunity to learn about these schools, the programs they have, admission requirements and more.
“There may not be time to do intense advising or transcript evaluation at this event, depending on how busy it is, but they can make a contact and set up a time to talk more in the future.”
According to Selberg, students need to take advantage of having all the representatives in the same room.
“This is an amazing opportunity for our students. They can talk to a number of schools all at one time in one place. Some of the schools are hard to get someone to talk with you and now our students have this opportunity. We are hearing more and more from our transfer partners tell us about how well our students do when they transfer and I’d like to think that this event helps them be better prepared.”
