Lansing, MI– The No. 2 ranked Grand Rapids Community College volleyball team beat host Lansing Community College in three straight set’s (25-18, 25-20, 25-17) on Tuesday night.
Sticking to their gameplan, GRCC was able to overcome an early barrage of perfect serving by LCC.
“We started out with some tough swings and good serves and then we just couldn’t keep it going,” Lansing coach Emily Quintero said. “Grand Rapids brought their ‘A’ game.”
GRCC never panicked as LCC’s lead in the first set did not last long, allowing them to never fall behind again during the match.
“Even when we were down on points we didn’t get down on ourselves,” GRCC’s Jamie Barrows said. “We had great team work out there.”
GRCC made changes to the team’s starting lineup which helped match up players, accordingly to the size and strength of their opponent, making the flow of the game change.
“I thought this was probably the most efficient match we have played all year,” GRCC Coach Chip Will said. “They got on us early and we stuck to our game plan”
GRCC (17-3, 8-0) play host to Kalamazoo Valley Community College 6:30 p.m Thursday at Ford Fieldhouse, before traveling to Muskegon to take on conference rival Muskegon Community College Oct. 14.
