Free food and calorie-burning fun are on tap for Grand Rapids Community College students Saturday night at the David D. Hunting YMCA in Grand Rapids.
The GRCC Campus Activities Board is co-sponsoring the “Night at the YMCA” event with Grand Valley State University and GNC. By combining resources, the entire facility will be open to GRCC and GVSU students and their friends and families for free.
Featured activities include: rock climbing, swimming, volleyball, basketball, and access to the track. Additionally, there will be “some (GRCC) exercise science faculty leading yoga and Zumba lessons,” according to Ashleigh Begres, CAB adviser.
Aside from the activities, GNC representatives will be informally handing out free products like protein mix shakers and information.
CAB has budgeted $800 to purchase food for the event.
“GNC 100 percent donated all of their time and products,” Begres said. “We got a lot a lot of donations, and Grand Valley paid for the rental of the venue.”
The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m on Saturday (Jan. 31) at David D. Hunting YMCA, 475 Lake Michigan Dr. NW.
Students must accompany family and friends at the door and present a valid student ID.
