By Kayla Tucker – Managing Editor

Michigan State University professor Dr. Saleh Aldasouqi will give a free talk on “Diabesity,” the link between diabetes and obesity, Oct. 15.

His lecture titled “Diabesity: the Unabated Epidemic of Diabetes and Obesity,” is free but an RSVP are requested.

Paul Krieger, biology professor at Grand Rapids Community College, feels that diabetes and obesity go hand and hand, and that’s why he invited Aldasouqi to campus.

“This has become an epidemic in the United States that will stress our health-care system in the future if this trend is not reversed,” Krieger said in a press release. “Those who attend this free lecture will learn the scientific facts about this problem as well as proactive measures that can be taken to combat it.”

Aldasouqi is a professor in the field of medicine and endocrinology. He is also certified in the areas of diabetes and metabolism.

The lecture will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 in the Calkins Science Center auditorium.
