The Grand Rapids Symphony is performing Mahler’s “Titan” at the DeVos Performance Hall this weekend. “Titan” is a presentation of “Mahler’s first  symphony”, starting with John Harbison’s “Remembering Gatsby” (Foxtrot for Orchestra) and Mozart’s “Violin Concerto No. 5.” This performance is meant to take the listener on a ride through the entire spectrum of human emotion. The show begins at 8 p.m. Oct. 23-24 at DeVos Performance Hall. General admission starts at $18, but full time students get in for $5.

BaCon returns to the DeltaPlex for the third year this Saturday. The bacon and beer celebration runs from 3-8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct 24. This is a walking around, tasting event featuring bacon inspired dishes and drinks. A portion of the proceeds go to Kids’ Food Basket, a West Michigan organization. General admission to the event is $20 and includes 10 sample tickets. The Bacon Master is $40 and includes 20 sample tickets and a limited edition BaCon apron.

  1. Gary, thanks for including the Sunday Night Funnies in your “Things to do 10/23 – 25” article. One correction I would like to make though, the free (t) shirt winner is for the audience member Joke Contest, not for the karaoke. -Brian B., Sunday Night Funnies.
