This year, the Diversity Lecture Series is celebrating 21 years of diverse voices. The series consists of free public lectures.
The speakers present “thought-provoking lectures that help us discover and think about how we can enhance inclusion in our lives,” said Chris Arnold, director of the Grand Rapids Community College’s Diversity Learning Center.
The upcoming lecture begins at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at Fountain Street Church. The New York Times best-selling author Matthew Crawford will speak on the topic of his new book “The World Beyond Your Head.” He will discuss the challenges of becoming an individual. The talk will consist of how we raise our children, the design of public spaces and democracy.
“I believe this is a very timely conversation as we are all experiencing information overload and need to learn strategies to try to live in the moment,” Arnold said.
There will be a book signing before the talk.
