The Grand Rapids Community College women’s basketball team opened the 2015-16 season by defeating visiting Wayne County Community College 95-29, Wednesday at the Ford Fieldhouse.
The Raiders never trailed in the game that saw GRCC shut out WCCC in the third period, 23-0.
“Grand Rapids played good,” WCCC head coach Tabytha Harvey said. “They are a solid team.”
Even with the large margin of victory, GRCC head coach Ray Kimble found some faults during the game.
“We had a couple of defensive lapses and defense is what is going to win games for us,” Kimble said.
All players on the GRCC roster scored at least three points.
GRCC’s Courtney Zenner tallied 22 points to lead all scorers, while Erica Harris led in rebounds with 9.
GRCC will host Mid-Michigan Community College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ford Fieldhouse.
