This week’s list of events include a Star Wars dance party, a visit to the zoo and a basketball game.
The Pyramid Scheme will host Skywalker: A Star Wars Dance Party from 9 p.m. until midnight on Saturday. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 day of show, and this event is for adults 21 and up.
John Ball Zoo is open for only one day this December. “Christmas For the Animals” takes place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday. This is a free event with donation of an animal enrichment item. Patrons get to see the animals receive gifts and children have an opportunity to visit Santa Claus and his reindeer.
Grand Rapids Drive, a Detroit Pistons affiliate basketball team will be playing against Fort Wayne Mad Ants at Deltaplex Arena on Sunday. Tip off is at 4 p.m. The minor league’s affiliation with the Pistons started in 2014 when it relocated to Grand Rapids. Ticket prices range from $5-$30, depending on seat choice. Doors open at 3 p.m.
Grand Rapids Actors’ Theatre is showing the musical “Dogfight” through the weekend at Grand Rapids Community College’s Spectrum Theater. “Dogfight” is a musical based loosely on the 1991 film of the same name by Nancy Savoca and Bob Comfort starring River Phoenix and Lili Taylor. The play will run at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday every week this December. Tickets are $28 for the public and range from $10-$22 for students and can be purchased at the Actors’ Theatre box office online or by phone at 616-234-3946.
