The Grand Rapids Community College Art Gallery has opened up again for the first time this semester.
“I feel it’s important for the students to showcase their work,” said Nick Antonakis, head of the visual arts department. “We have the highest level of national accreditation for art programs at the college level. It’s called NASAD.”
NASAD stands for National Association of Schools of Art and Design and it has approximately 346 accredited institutional members.
Antonakis said “one of the standards of NASAD is that student have to showcase their work and gain experience in doing so.”
Antonakis said the gallery has been around since 2001.
Their hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. The gallery will be open until Feb. 4, then they will take a break and be back up on Feb. 15 to March 17, and then take one final break and be open one last time for the winter semester, which will be from March 28 to April 11.
