The Grand Rapids Community College men’s basketball team suffered a tough loss, falling 86-67 to the Ancilla College Chargers Friday.

“I’m not trying to take anything away from them (Ancilla),” GRCC Head Coach Mike Spicer said. “They played well together, they played smart and they appear to be extremely well coached. I just think our issues are internal.”

GRCC did play well the first few minutes of the game, exhibiting team play and giving an effort that was worthy to win the game; however, that style of play would start to fall apart once they took the lead.

“Right now, I just can’t think of anything (that the team did well).” Spicer said. “Other than the start of the game.

“We played pretty well for a little bit, but as soon as we start having a little success, guys felt like ‘oh it’s my turn to do my thing.’”

GRCC has struggled to be able to maintain a lead in its past several games and it shows with the seven-game losing streak.

The team will play at Jackson College on Wednesday.
