The Grand Rapids Community College baseball team team split its doubleheader against Mott Community College losing the first game 4-3, and winning the second game 4-1.
The Raiders have now went 4-2 over their final six games, putting them at 20-23 overall and 16-10 in conference which puts them in a tie for fourth place in the conference standings.
In Game 1, Brad Buurstra (0-6) got the loss for GRCC while he gave up just one run over three innings on two hits with seven strikeouts.
Matt Milbourne had a solid game at the plate going 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. Matt Milstead went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.
In the Game 2, Sam Traver (7-2) got his seventh win which leads the team. Traver went five innings while giving up just one earned run on four hits, a walk, and five strikeouts.
Chris Nelson got his first save of the season on two innings of work allowing no runs and no hits with two strikeouts.
Buurstra went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Jordan Stephans had a perfect game at the plate going 2-for-2 with a walk, a RBI, and run scored.
GRCC is still awaiting its official time to play in regionals. If Lansing Community College splits or sweeps Jackson, the Raiders would play Kellogg at 11:30 a.m. on May 18. If Lansing CC loses both GRCC will play Delta at noon on May 18. The regional tournament will be played at Bailey Ballpark in Battle Creek.
