It may be a little known fact to Grand Rapids Community College students that their RaiderCard can be used for more than just parking and actually has a number of benefits including free admission into many of Grand Rapids’ institutions.
The GoSeeGR! program is a partnership between GRCC and the city of Grand Rapids that allows students and employees to explore the city and many of its attractions at no cost. However, a special GoSeeGR! voucher is required along with a RaiderCard in order to take advantage of this program.
Students can obtain this voucher by simply visiting the Student Life office to confirm that they are still enrolled in classes. This program is only available to current students of GRCC and a GoSeeGR! voucher is required for free admission. The voucher is good through the end of June and only one per student or employee is required for unlimited access.
The GoSeeGR! voucher can be used at the following locations for free admission:
- John Ball Zoo
- Grand Rapids Art Museum
- Grand Rapids Public Museum
- Grand Rapids Children’s Museum
- Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum
“This is an awesome way to get students to connect with each other and get involved in something they might not usually do,” said Lina Blair, director of student life and conduct. “We want students to be engaged in the museums and the Grand Rapids community.”
This program has been in existence since the 2012-2013 academic year and the cost of admission is already covered through the $10 Campus Activity Fee each student pays when registering for classes. Just one trip to any of the participating locations and the pass pays for itself.
Students also have the opportunity to get a semester long Rapid bus pass for $130 rather than paying nearly $200 without their RaiderCard. Many other student discounts are offered in the Grand Rapids area at various restaurants and local businesses.
