The Grand Rapids Community College men’s and women’s cross country teams both raced with “heart and determination” Friday, as they traveled to the Lansing Community College to race in the Lansing Invitational.
The women’s team finished 11th out of 15 teams. The team’s performance was highlighted by two great runs from Freshmen Jackie Jernigan and Maya McAdory. Both Jernigan and McAdory finished with season best runs. The women’s team hope to continue to improve as they will race next in the Muskegon Invitational.
Handing Lansing CC cross country their first conference loss of the season, the GRCC men’s team finished second among 18 teams. The race was highlighted by Freshman Chris Santana, who finished first among community college runners and personal bests from Freshmen Bruce Beerstra and Nathanael Edwards.
The next race for GRCC will be the Muskegon Invitational at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at University Park Golf Course, 2100 Marquette Avenue, Muskegon.
