Construction of the Grand Rapids Community College Lab Preschool is expected to finish this December.
“We’re right on schedule and there is a lot of activity on site,” said Victoria Janowiak, executive director of operational planning, about the $8.6 million construction project that began in August 2015.

After completion in December, the preschoolers and GRCC students will transfer into the new facility in January. The new building will include eight new classrooms, with seven being for children in the infant, toddler or preschool groups. One classroom will be for the students in the Child Development program and will give them a firsthand learning opportunity.
Not only is this new facility going to benefit the students in the Child Development program, but it will also provide educational services to the Grand Rapids community. By expanding the learning facilities, GRCC plans to provide even more educational support to families and caregivers from low income residential areas.

The GRCC Laboratory Preschool provides a number of activities for the children to enhance their language art, music and movement, and math skills. It provides GRCC students with real-world experience and will better prepare them for their future careers as well.
