The Grand Rapids Community College men’s basketball team lost a close match up against Grace Bible’s JV team, 76-71, Wednesday night.
Sophomore Guard Arthur Pearson recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. He had eight steals and six assists as well.
Sophomore Guard Jeffrey Drake-Todd added 19 points, six rebounds and six assists.
Freshman Guard Bryce Elliot chipped in 15 points.
It was a rough night for GRCC from the three point line and free throw line. GRCC shot just 23 percent from three point range and 55 percent from free throw.
Grace out-rebounded GRCC 60-31. They shot 45 percent compared to GRCC’s 37 percent.
“They had a little size advantage and killed us with the high-low,” said Head Coach Luke Bronkema. “We just didn’t have a great match up against them with Max (Prendergast) being out.”
GRCC’s Starting Center Prendergast is injured with a foot sprain. He is expected to be back in 7-14 days.
“We got killed on the boards and they had a lot of second chance points,” Pearson said . “We have to knock down our free throws and limit turnovers.”
GRCC’s next game will be at 3 p.m. Nov 18 at the Kalamazoo Valley Community College showcase against Schoolcraft College.
