Student leaders voted to rename the Club Hub at the latest Grand Rapids Community College Student Alliance meeting.
The name will be changed to honor former Student Life Office Manager Molly Mazcka, who died Oct. 26.
“Molly made a big impact when she was here, especially on a personal level,” said Student Alliance President Jose Garcia. “She always made everyone feel welcome.”
A forum will be posted on OrgSync until next Thursday, Nov. 17 to brainstorm possible new names. So far, Garcia said his ideas are: the “Molly Mazcka Club Hub,” or the “Molly Mazcka Collaborative Hub.”
“It’s important to recognize her in the space because this is where we got to know her,” Garcia said. “(The Student Life Office) always encouraged people to come together and a lot of that had to do with Molly interacting with everyone.”
In other news, an allocation request to install TV monitors in the Club Hub was approved by student leaders.
