Grand Rapids Community College faculty – full time and adjunct – will vote today on the next round of faculty contracts.
Michael Miller, the faculty association’s adjunct advocate, said some faculty may be nervous going into the vote.
“There’s excitement, too,” Miller said. “Especially for those really into our political process. And there’s also some anxiety as this is about change, too, which will include robust debate. But that’s our political and civil process and a great human activity at the same time.”
Miller said changes to adjunct pay will likely be the main issue of concern before the vote.
“Pay is impacted in the proposed contract with a significant part of that affecting many adjunct faculty,” Miller said. “That will more than likely be the key topic of discussion.”
Once implemented, the contracts will last for the next three years.
