The week ahead features a number of fun opportunities ranging from concerts, stand up comedy, and live poetry to enjoy around Grand Rapids.
“Local Showcase 11” will be hosted at 8:30 p.m., Friday Jan. 20 by the Pyramid Scheme, 68 Commerce SW. The showcase features local artists including ConvoTronics, The Real Lazy Genius, Les Creatif, Shaaaaark, and spoken word from Autopilot, Rachel Gleason and Fable The Poet. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 day of the show. Guests age 21 and up are welcome.
“Vibe Street” with Evanoff and Aegis will be playing at 8 p.m. Saturday Jan. 21 at The Stache, 133 Grandville Ave Sw. The Denver based DJ will be playing upbeat, unique sounds. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 day of the show. Guests age 16 and up are welcome.
“The Drunken Retort” is hosted at 8 p.m. every Monday night at Stella’s Lounge, 53 Commerce Ave. The night features local poetry, acoustic music and comedy. The event is free and features several drink specials. Guests age 21 and up are welcome.
“Comedy Outlet Mondays!” is hosted at 7 p.m. Jan. 23 by the Dog Story Theater, 7 Jefferson Ave SE. The night will feature a variety of local standup and improv comedians. Admission is $5 and guests of all ages are welcome.
“Lost Highway” a film by David Lynch will be screened at 8 p.m.Tuesday, Jan. 24 at The Wealthy Theater, 1130 Wealthy St. SE. The film is about a man who is convicted of murdering his wife, undergoes a transformation and begins a new life. Tickets are $6 for non-members and $5 for members. Members can also purchase alcohol at the theater. Guests of all ages are welcome.
