Grand Rapids Community College students are now able to log into the website OrgSync with their Blackboard passwords. OrgSync is a portal for students to use to be able to find out more about clubs and organizations on campus.
Student Alliance President Jose Garcia said all students should have an OrgSync account now and be able to log in with their Blackboard username and password. As for those who previously had separate OrgSync accounts, those two accounts should now be combined as one.
“The change was made to make it easier for students to get on OrgSync,” Garcia said. “Before, you would have to manually create an account, and then we had to trust that everyone had entered their correct student ID. It eliminates that uncertainty.”
Garcia said that the change was initiated by the Student Alliance leaders from last year and it was put into effect this semester.
“Over time, things were starting to merge together where we needed the accounts to be combined to make it easier for student access,” Garcia said.
Garcia added that in addition to being able to find information on different GRCC clubs and organizations, OrgSync has many other benefits for students.
“It has a resume feature where you can put in all your information, and if you participate in a group or club, your hours can be logged and you can compile that into a formal resume as well,” Garcia said. “There’s other potential benefits, such as the academic departments that are joining, and easier access to college information.”
