GRCC Players will present “A Further Education” at Spectrum Theater tonight and Friday.
The play is set on a British college campus and is about an older woman, Charlotte, who goes back to college. Charlotte is in classes with college-aged students who don’t understand why she is there. The play portrays a non-traditional college student’s experience and highlights the benefits of lifelong learning. The play is a little over two hours and has one intermission.
“We want [students] to walk away realizing that it’s a cool experience when you have non-traditional aged students mixed with traditional aged students and what we can learn from the life experience of older learners,” said Michelle Urbane, theater manager. “And how there’s a thrill of learning no matter what age you are and how lifelong learning is a benefit that we all appreciate.”
“[It was] one of the best experiences of my life,” said Kelli Castelló, 22, played Charlotte.
“A Further Education” will be performed at 8 p.m. tonight and Friday at GRCC’s Spectrum Theater, 160 Fountain Street NE. Tickets are $5 for students and $12 for general admission. The show does contain strong language.
