A lecture on mindfulness will be the last presentation of this year’s Grand Rapids Community College Psychology Lecture Series. April Hadley will be giving an introduction to mindfulness, exploring the science of it and speaking about its practical application.

Hadley has a master’s degree in social work and is a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Instructor at the Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness. Mindfulness practice helps people slow down, utilize more of their innate intelligence and sensitivity and savor and experience the full texture of their  experience. Mindfulness experts describe it as conscious living and having an alert presence of mind.
This presentation will cover the history and research as well as give some simple practices, exercises and suggestions for how participants can bring mindfulness into both their personal and professional lives. Hadley will give her lecture from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 22 in the Applied Technology Center auditorium.
