The Week Ahead features a number of fun opportunities ranging from an art show, concerts, stand up comedy and films to enjoy around Grand Rapids.

“First Fridays” is held every first Friday of the month between 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 3, This local artist showcase will take up various store fronts and galleries on South Division Avenue between Fulton Street and Wealthy Street. The event is free and guests of all ages are welcome.

“Frivolous Follies: Spring it On,” will be hosted at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb 4. at the Wealthy Theater, 1130 Wealthy Street SE. The event will feature a variety of acts ranging from burlesque to dog dancing. This show will benefit Carol’s Ferals, a local cat rescue organization. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 day of show. Guests 21 and up are welcome.

“The Drunken Retort” is hosted at 8 p.m. every Monday night at Stella’s Lounge, 53 Commerce Avenue. The night features local poetry, acoustic music and comedy. The event is free and features several drink specials. Guests aged 21 and up are welcome.
Indie Rock bands Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and The Hold Steady will be playing at 8 p.m., Tuesday Feb. 9 at The Pyramid Scheme, 68 Commerce SW. The bands from Philadelphia, and New York respectively, will be performing their own unique blends of indie rock. Tickets are $16 in advance and $18 on the day of the show. Guests of all ages are welcome.
