For many students, transferring to a four year school can be a hassle. Many students do not know what preparations to take before transferring. Fortunately, there are many useful resources available to help students make a smooth transition to their transfer school.
The most useful resource available to students is the Counseling and Career Center. The website, offers general information about how to transfer to a college or university along with the specific transfer agreements GRCC has with colleges and universities. There is also a schedule for transfer schools visiting GRCC campus.
Lynnae Selburg, Program Director of the Academic Advising/ Transfer Center, recommends that students make sure their credits from Grand Rapids Community College transfer to a four-year school.
“GRCC’s credits transfer very well to other schools in Michigan and around the country,” Selburg said. “But if we do not pick the classes based on where the student is going and what they want to do when they get there the credits may transfer, but it may not help them towards degree completion.”
Students can also visit the transfer fair to meet with over 40 transfer schools.
Students can receive information from transfer schools, talk to college representatives and decide which school is best fitted to their degree.
The first transfer fair will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Student Center on the 3rd floor from 12:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m.
