The "Happiest 5K on the Planet" returns to Grand Rapids

The Color Run “Dream Tour” is coming back to downtown Grand Rapids Sat. July 29 at Calder Plaza.

The run organizers call the “Happiest 5k on the planet,” started in 2012 with one goal in mind: to provide its participants with an unforgettable experience.

The Color Run doesn’t revolve around winners or times and pushes to only celebrate happiness, healthiness and individuality.

The organizers for the run partner with multiple charities in the area to bring them to the forefront and have given around $5 million to charities since the beginning of the race.

The race is open to people of all fitness levels and ages. Participants can run, walk and play until the finish.

The runners start the race with bright, white clothes and fun, colorful costumes and finish the race plastered with different colored powders.

The volunteers of the race throw vibrant colored powders at runners while they are running through different checkpoints throughout the race.

At the end of the race, there will be an after party where there is music blasting and lots of dancing. Runners will be provided with their own packets of colored powder to throw into the air during the after party.

For those you want to participate, save a few dollars by entering with four or more runners. The registration fee for a group of four or more runners is $39.99 per runner while an individual runner with pay $44.99.

The registration package will include a running number, Color Run t-shirt, Color Run headband, a unicorn finishers medal and a color packet.
