The Grand Rapids Community College Cross Country runners performed well this past Saturday on Nov. 11 at the NJCAA Division l National Championship.
The men finished 24th overall led by Chris Santana with a 82nd place overall finish (27:04:0), while Stephanie Thomas finished 35th overall (19:20.0) in the women’s championship race.
Behind Santana in the men’s event was Sam Borsich who finished 102 overall with a time of 27:14.7 followed by Bruce Buurstra who placed 134th overall with a time of 27:35.4. Trystan Thayer finished 157th overall running a 27:53.8 while Nathanael Edwards finished 173rd with a time of 28:01.1. Daniel Santana earned 192nd running a 28:24.1. And Isaac Arp finished in 30:17.2.
For the women’s race, leading the way was Thomas. Thomas finished 35th overall running a 19:20.0. Followed by teammate, Jessica Sluiter’s 20:20.0 who earned her spot at 108th overall. Cierra Ensign ran a 20:25.6 for 116th.
According to GRCC Athletics page, Thomas finished her season with an All-Region Xll First Team honors, earning All-MCCAA, MCCAA All Freshman team, and MCCAA Freshmen of the Year. Cierra Ensign finished earning All-Region Xll Third Team, All-MCCAA, and All-MCCAA Freshmen team honors.
Chris Santana earned All-Region Xll Second Team and All-MCCAA honors. Borisch was named All-Region Xll Third Team, All-MCCAA, and MCCAA All-Freshmen Team.
