What better way to bring Christmas cheer, than attending a Christmas concert. The Grand Rapids Community College orchestra director Dr. Libor Ondras and the Kent Philharmonic Orchestra is teaming up with the Rockapellas for a Christmas special, Fri. Nov. 8.

Kent Philharmonic Orchestra “is a community based orchestra under the umbrella of Grand Rapids Community College. Our members come from all walks of life and include professional musicians, community members and GRCC students,” Ondras said.

Ondras has known Scott Leonard and Rockapella since he taught at the University of Tampa.

”I got to know Scott, the front man of the group, on a personal basis and stayed friends with him,” Ondras said.

Rockapella, who performed with the Grand Rapids Symphony seven years ago, is a world-renown group. They debuted in a vocal house band on PBS, “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” in the 1990’s. They have 19 albums and have also performed with the Boston Pops.

Tickets are being sold for $28. The show starts at 7:30 p.m at St. Cecilia Music Center. If you enjoy “Glee,” “Pitch Perfect” and other acapella groups, then this is for you.
