There will also be hands-on crafts to celebrate the African American culture.

In an email interview with GRPL Communications Marketing and Communications Manager Kristen Krueger-Corrado she states that ”’Taste of Soul’ is an amazing community event.”  “This year, I am looking forward to hearing Minnie Forbes speak. She was a professional ball player and a Negro League team owner. Her work in athletics and civil rights was honored by President Obama in 2011.”

This is the 12th year that the GRPL has hosted “Taste of Soul,” which is the library’s largest single-day event.

“This is a great opportunity for individuals to get educated on African American history, in an environment that is open to all,” Krueger-Corrado stated.

For those who are looking to attend, the Grand Rapids Public Library is located on 111 Library St NE, in Grand Rapids. For more information on this event, you can also check out Grand Rapids Public Libraries website at grpl.org/tasteofsoul/listen.
