Grand Rapids Community College is challenging its students, staff and faculty to walk this summer with its Going the Distance walking challenge.
Going the Distance encourages friendly competition between students and colleagues in an effort to get participants socializing while getting in shape.
“We’re promoting wellness, but also the opportunity to build relationships with our colleagues across campus and, especially, the students,” read the announcement. “This is an opportunity for them to get to know the GRCC family and our campus.”
The movement will be comprised of teams of four to six members including at least two students in each team. Pedometers will be provided to teams while supplies last. Team captains will have the responsibility of sharing their team’s steps for the week every Monday by noon during the four week challenge.
The deadline to sign up for Going the Distance is Mon., July 9. To sign up for the challenge visit the Going the Distance website. The Collegiate is signed up for the walking challenge and challenges you to do the same with your team.
