Grand Rapids Public Schools will host the 26th annual Grand Rapids Turkey Trot at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22 at the Van Andel Arena.

The Turkey Trot is on Thanksgiving morning and is one of the biggest holiday 5K race/walks in West Michigan. People around Grand Rapids gather to participate in the festive 5K. Children 12 and under are invited to join the 1K mini trot free of charge.

There are currently over 5,000 participants and a little over 7,000 spots remaining. Registration fees for the Turkey Trot are $40, plus a $3 signup fee. Prices will jump to $45 for those who register after midnight on Nov. 21.

Each runner who has signed up before Nov. 5 will receive a t-shirt for the race. Those who sign up after the Nov. 5 deadline are not promised a t-shirt and are only available while supplies last.

Race packets can be picked up Nov. 21 at Union High School from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1800 Tremont Blvd. NW in Grand Rapids or the day of the race at the Van Andel Arena.
